What is Sleep Awareness Month and World Sleep Day?

Sleep Awareness Month is March each year. It's a month dedicated to raising awareness about how important sleep is, and promoting good sleep habits. Organizations, healthcare professionals, and advocacy groups use this month to share information about the impact of sleep on overall health. It's great, but at Queen Anne, we promote "Better Health Starts With Better Sleep" throughout the year too!

During Sleep Awareness Month, events, campaigns, and educational initiatives happen to address issues like sleep disorders, how important getting enough sleep is, and providing tips for improving sleep quality. It's an opportunity to highlight the importance of sleep in maintaining physical and mental health.

And then World Sleep Day is an annual event, also in March and on the Friday before the vernal equinox. The vernal equinox is the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. That makes it is March 15, 2024 this year. The global event was started by the World Sleep Society, a non-profit organization that works to advance sleep health. World Sleep Day is like Sleep Awareness Month, a time for healthcare professionals, the general public, and everyone to come together and discuss and learn more about sleep-related issues.
