Spring Cleaning for Better Sleep

Spring Cleaning for Better Sleep

Is it spring? It's close and I'm not ready for spring cleaning, but I'll do just about anything for better sleep. Here's what I'm going to plan on.

Deep clean the bedroom

  • Wash the bedding. I wash the sheets every week and hopefully you do too, but wash the rest now too - mattress pad, pillows (if they're machine washable), bed skirt, pillow protectors, etc. This will remove any dust mites, allergens, and other irritants that might affect your sleep.
  • Clean your mattress. When the bedding's all off, vacuum the mattress and spot clean any stains or spills.
  • Clean your curtains or blinds. Dust or wash your curtains and blinds to get rid of any dust that might've built up.

Improve your sleep environment

  • Create a relaxing atmosphere. Make your bedroom a sanctuary for sleep by adding calming elements such as soft lighting, soothing scents, and comfortable bedding.
  • Keep it cool and dark. Maintain a cool temperature in your bedroom and use blackout curtains or blinds to block out light.
  • Consider an air purifier. An air purifier can help remove allergens and pollutants from the air, improving air quality and promoting better sleep.

Have fun and good luck!
