Hi, friends!  As we drift off into this new adventure we want to make sure that there’s a good balance of both sweet and fun bedtime stories, mixed with information that you can actually use to relax into your nightly rituals.

It’s one thing to feel like your dreams are supported and another thing entirely to make sure you’re not waking up with unnecessary pain. So there are a few crucial questions we like to ask ourselves and educate you about.  Before we dive in, take a moment to ask yourself about how you drift off to sleep? Me, for example, I always start to fall asleep on my stomach, then right at the crux I move onto my back (sometimes side). I was a bit lost in trying to choose the right pillow because I was so all over the place but, believe it or not, there is a formula.

Consider these two questions: How do you fall to sleep and, when you wake up, where are there pain spots? After extensive research, customer surveying and sampling, and our collective knowledge in the world of perfect pillows - we were able to compile this handy chart. It hits all the right spots and will no doubt lead you in the right direction.

Once you have an idea of the size and heft of the pillow that will best suit your needs, we can talk about what feathers mean for your pillow, and why they may or may not work for you. We offer a variety of down, down-feather, and hypoallergenic synthetic down pillows. The Original Queen Anne, Princess and Duchess styles all offer down, or down + feathers. The Majesty Down, LoftKing and Duke pillows are hypoallergenic synthetic down.

When considering a down + feather filled pillow there shouldn’t be a question in your mind about the sourcing. Queen Anne uses 100% ethically sourced down and feathers.

The synthetic down, hypoallergenic, collection is great for those that experience allergies (even mild ones), or breathing problems like sleep apnea or skin irritations. Just because you’re not looking to bypass allergies or skin questions, doesn’t mean a hypoallergenic option won’t be the right choice for you though.  Down is a natural insulator, and the synthetic down pillows give the comfort of natural down but without the potential for heat. And synthetic down pillows are entirely machine washable and dryer friendly.

You may be riding high in a California King but if you like a pillow that you can fold in half to be the size of your childhood teddy bear (you know that’s still comforting, it’s okay) then go for it! Choose a pillow for yourself, not your partner or your bed size. Consider adding in a few firm queens for moments where you might want to sit up in bed to read or enjoy tea and tuck your workhorse sleeping pillows behind them for everyday use.

Don’t be a stranger. Let us know if you found this little guide helpful or even if you found that different information works for you. It’s important to us that we’re hearing the experiences and making the best pillows possible!
